Signs Of Transmission Trouble In Your Car

The most complicated part of your vehicle is, without a doubt, the transmission. With over 800 individual pieces, the transmission is as complex as it is essential. But unlike a lot of other parts of your vehicle, the transmission doesn’t need all that much attention over the life of the vehicle. So how do you know if your transmission is in trouble? Your car has a few ways of letting you know that your transmission needs some attention.

Check Engine Light

Transmission problems are far from the only thing that can activate a check engine light, but coupled with the other symptoms on this list, an activated warning can be a sign that your transmission needs work. As a side note: An activated check engine light is always a reason to give us a call, transmission issue or not.

Slipping Or Grinding

When you use the gas pedal to speed up your vehicle, your transmission is working its hardest, changing gears to keep up with your increasing speed. As the gears are changing, this is one of the times transmission troubles are most evident. If you feel a slipping or grinding sensation as your gears change, you’ve got a transmission issue on your hands.

Red Or Brown Fluid

If you notice red or brown fluid pooling underneath your vehicle, this is an excellent indicator that your transmission is suffering. This is transmission fluid you are seeing, and it isn’t supposed to leak out of your car – ever. If you see this liquid under your car, make an appointment.
