What Should You Keep in Your Car Just in Case?

Having some safety items in your car is just a good idea. But do you know what those items need to be? Interstate Automotive has a starter list for you that you can use to put the right safety items in your car.

Additional Clothing and Blankets

No matter what the weather is doing, having at least one change of clothing and some additional blankets can be incredibly helpful. You never know when you’ll need these sorts of items, and they don’t weigh a lot as long as you’re not carrying your entire wardrobe in the car. It’s a good idea to put them in a duffel or some sort of bag to contain them and keep the cargo area neat.

First Aid Kit

A first aid kit is always a valuable addition to just about anywhere. It’s especially important if you ever need a bandage or something else while you’re out and about. You don’t have to get a massive, complicated kit, either. Just a small first aid kit that has the basic items in it will serve you well if you ever need it.

Water and Non-perishable Food

Water is always useful, but non-perishable food is as well. You don’t want to keep a lot of food in the car, but a few protein bars can go a long way. You want to make sure to rotate out whatever non-perishable foods you keep in the car, just to make sure none of it goes bad. You should do the same with the water you keep in the car, too, because water can also go bad over time.

Repair Tools and Safety Items

A small repair kit with basic car care tools is a great thing to carry in your car’s trunk. You might also want to add to your stash of tools with things like a set of jumper cables, some flares, or roadside triangles, too. Any of the items you add may be things you only need once in a while, so the smaller your car is the more careful you should be about what you bring with you.

The best way to make sure you’re ready for anything is to get your car in for regularly scheduled maintenance on time. Interstate Automotive in Eau Claire, WI can help. Give us a call today and we’ll help you to put together a schedule that works for your busy life.
